Yes, just don't mix the sexes and you won't get babies.

Male Endler's are very colorful, females are not. You would probably also end up with fry-they tend to not eat their own-and quickly become overstocked.

You don't need to keep a trio, that means one male and 2 females. That arrangement will just get you plenty of babies. They are kinda like guppies. I only wanted the females to set up some breeding. you could keep only males togeather, in about the same numbers as the feeder guppies as the endlers are about the same size.

Also, you might look into endlers livebearers. I don't know how common they are where you are but here they are hard to find (females at least) , the only store that I know of that carries them only carries males (which is what you would want anyhow).

If you sitck with only feeders and only one sex maybe 3. The male feeders are actually kinda pretty after they get their body color.

My sister has a five gallon tank with two emerald catfish, five neon tetras, and a beta fish (who is in quarentine at the moment). She wants to know if it would be safe to have guppies in her tank compatability and stocking wise.

it all depends on the betta, i've had a few males that i could keep with guppies, but females can be just as aggresive as males. no matter what the gender it depends ont he individual, but as said before the tank is already overstocked.

If you're talking female bettas they should be fine with just the guppies. I have 2 females with 2 male feeder guppies right now in a eclipse six. I tried the same with a male and he wouldn't leave the guppies alone. I wouldn't try fancy guppies though, the long fins would be a target.

A betta alone in that tank would be great. But I agree with the others. If you're able to take back the catfish to the pet store where you got them, you could probably get a 10g and keep the tetra and betta. I would recommend that she stays away from guppies. They are easy to care for but they breed nonstop and she'll most likely want to keep the fry.

Your sister's tank is certainly not large enough for the fish there, and to keep those that she has happy, she needs six each of the cories and tetras. Your sister needs to upgrade at least to a fifteen gallon, if not a twenty. And, as stated above, bettas do not keep well with guppies.

I would only put a betta OR a trio of guppies in a 5 gallon. Emerald catfish get about 3 inches long, and are schooling. So are neons, which means both should be kept in groups of 6 or more. There isn't room for a school of neons in that tank. I'd recommend your sister get a 20 gallon tank if she wants to keep the fish she has now.

So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

Definitly not. That tank is overstocked with just the neons and catfish. Plus, most bettas will not tolerate guppies. Since a guppie's large tail fin resemblies a betta's tail fin, the betta will usually attack guppies.
