How many guppies do you think can live in a 12gallon eclipse setup.

Assume weekly water changes of 20%.

I would only put 1 male and 2-3 females as they are going to breed, and thus will be creating more copies of themselves. Also make sure that you have an outlet ie. LFS that will take them in as you grow them out (you will need another tank or two for any real credit) hml

Yeah i agree with heidi, you could have 1 male and 2-3 females and maybe get like a cory or something. Unless you want babies cause the cory will probably eat them.

Yeah, I realize that, but at full capacity how many adults do you think the tank can hold.

12 Gallon, weekly water changes, good filter.

No more than 6 adult guppies in a 12g tank. Small tanks have all the will in the world to go wrong. Overstocking a small tank is not a good plan.
My suggestion is, get 6 males or 6 females....dont mix. You just simply wont have room for the hundreds of fry that will result in just the next 3 months, unless you have a seperate tank for fry.
Besides, Female guppies get along swimmingly just by theirselves, try it out, you just may like it, I have 6 females in my 10g and they get along great. Act way calmer than they ever did when males were around...but I dont blame em...we all know what male guppies are like ....

Just keep in mind that female guppies often come from the store already pregnant, AND can have fry 6-9 months after being removed from male presence.

I have a ten gallon with six guppy girls (mom and five of her female offspring) that I had separated from the males as soon as I could. Only mom has every had fry.

I used to have a dozen guppy girls in the tank (mom didn't know when to QUIT having babies, drat it) and it obviously took its toll... the girls weren't growing anymore, so I had to give some of them away.

Overstocking is not really a good situation, however, I'd think you could get by with a few more than six in a twelve gallon.

I was thinking with weekly water changes I could get by with 12 adults in a 12 gallon.

I dunno... With twelve in a ten gallon, the guppies were obviously starting to stunt, despite water changes. On the other hand, mine are all females, which are quite a bit bulkier than males. *shrugs*

Famales get 2 times the size of males..Normaly..

A tank full of 12 males, you will have agression issues, niped fins, dead fish.

2-3 females and a 4-6 males would be max, and that is if you have a place for the babies.
