Will this be good or will it be a tail nipping mistake?
Thanks in advance

Do you mean Gourami? If you have a well planted tank with lots of hiding places. What size tank were you thinking about?

What is the tanks size?. If you have a small & crowded tank, there will be some nipping.

uhmmmm...i dunno...sounds a bit nippy depending on the gourami. i would say getting a single sunset dwarf gourami(mine is a wuss, just get them from a community tank, and watch how they interact with other fish at the LFS) if the gourami was a dwarf and was nice, it should be ok, but a full size gourami might mess them up. also if you keep two male gouramis together expect fights, and lots of them, they are labrynth fish after all.

EDIT: i just read what your current stock is and your plan to add another platty. you are overstocked as it is. if it was me for the sake of the fish i wouldnt even add another platty, let lone thow some semi agressive fish that get 3" in a tank that already has 3 fish that can outgrow your 20 just by themselves, along with guppies and a school of corys.

I have kept guppies with gouramis very successfully.
I have never noticed any nipping.

some platies, espescially females get very
hefty, but I dont think they will outgrow a 20g.
A 10 maybe, a 20 now.
4 Guppies
3 Platies
6 Cories
1 Dwarf Gourami.

That sounds fine to me.

Thanks ,sneaky. To be safe I have been considering moving a few fish around, like my prize guppies, for safety reasons.
