the CAPS is to make it more CLEAR, not meaning to SHOUT or else i would've used the EXCLAMATION MARK, and obviously some people did find a reason to shout, even if it was in chat.

Like I said they can live in both, not only one or in the other. Besides, like you said in chat Janna, mollies are brackish, but how many people keep them in brackish tanks? I personally know of none, nor seen one live in brackish. So are you saying mollies are freshwater, and not brackish? Even if you did do a poll on mollies, I'd bet that the results would be 100% freshwater too, unless there are wise cracks who read this and are trying to prove me wrong ]

EDIT: Oops, my mistake, mollies are now also saltwater!

I vote for freshwater only because they can survive without the salt. I believe that they flourish better but it is not a necessity and can live their whole life without it. I do however add a little aquarium salt to my guppy tank.

That's what I thought too, until it was brought up in a thread and in chat. I made this poll just to prove my point even further.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,

I would say freshwater, but only because brackish water is much more salty than my tank.
I add 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt per 10g water every water change. I would say this isnt brackish but isnt true freshwater. I find my guppies do great in this water.
My 2 Sailfin mollies however, are in my 90g tank which has no salt added at all, and supposedly they are brackish fish??? They are doing great as well.
All 5 LFS that I shop at told me that they do add aquarium salt to ALL Their water except African Cichlid water which is different. They all have told me they have approx. 1 Tablespoon Aquarium Salt per 10g in their systems. 1 store is a chain store, the rest are smaller operations.

Altho, as mentioned already, it does depend on where the guppy came from... no need to repeat above posts. Most ppl are going to have fancy guppies in the home aquarium so would consider guppies as freshwater, not brackish.

Okay, I wasn't in chat (not guilty), but just so you know: on the internet, using caps is almost universally recognized as the equivalent of shouting. Maybe bold would work better?

There are still wild Endler's, they've found a few fairly recently.

Feeder guppies aren't wild, they're just not bred for anything looks-wise - they're wild-type, but that doesn't make them wild. And yes, most of the guppies people keep today are fancy guppies, so I think any question that asks about guppies can be construed as asking about fancies - and many of us specified, too. No need to SHOUT.

Funny how we call most of our guppies FANCY GUPPIES. Unlike endlers, there are still some wild guppies. Except that we now call them FEEDER GUPPIES. I believe this post just asks for GUPPIES, not FANCY GUPPIES, or FEEDER GUPPIES.

Not all wild guppies are brackish, but moreover, we've had guppies in the hobby for, what, 70 years? More? And given how prolific they are, wild-caught fish have rarely been crossed back in. At this point I think fancy guppies are about as brackish as your average Discus. Wild-caught strains will, of course, vary.

Voted for BOTH

They can live in both. Like John Stone said, natural ones tend to be brackish. Just because we raised them to be pure freshwater (most of us just throw them in freshwater tanks and they grow that way) doesn't mean they only live in freshwater.

Natural guppies tend to be brackish... but the ones in LFS more then likely have never even seen salt and thus it's not needed.
