Does anyone know about these livebearers? Has anyone had any experience with, bred, or seen some of these fish? '

I was curious and if anyone could share some info that would be appreciated.

Why are there three of these posts

All I know is that they are harder to find and harder to breed then guppies/mollies/swords.

yes they are rare"er" than the common livebearers.

i haven't seen alive goodeids, but i did see some "malaysian" halfbeaks.

on aquabid.com : there is under other fish catorgory, i did see recently halfbeaks for sale in case you have a really hard time finding them.

Wreslting Halfbeaks maybe. they give birth to a max of 40 fry and like to lock jaws with other males.

I found some info on another website, and got curious. I am thinking about maybe trying them too, so thank you for the info, and i'll have to check aquabid.

Hi Aquapickle27, I have 7 Halfbeaks. Me and a friend bought 5 each but I keep them in my 2 foot as they were only babies and not big enough to put into a community tank yet. They are so different to anything I've had.

I live in Western Australia and they were very difficult to come by here as well, I think we were just at the right place at the right time.

They are top dwellers and from what I can tell, as they are becoming older, either the male or the female (i assume its the male) is now becoming coloured with red on its fins.

They do like some kind of floating plant to hide amongst as well.

Thanks for the info. Just curious, how big are yours, and have you tried breeding them?

There is a nitche society in the aquarium hobby that collects and maintains goodeids.

I'd really suggest you look at www.goodeids.com if you are intrested in these fish. There are hobbyists from all over the world on the sight.

goodeids are a Live bearing fish Mostly from Mexico. There habitat is being destroyed everyday making them prime targets for future extinction.
