Today two of my guppies had babies, sadly i was at school and was only able to save eight (I'm sure that some were eaten). One thing that surprised me, was that a guppy fry swam straight into the filter hose and was sucked up.

Congrats on your new babies.
You might try getting a sponge from a HOB filter, cutting a hole down through the center and putting it over the intake of your filter.

i had that problem but i wasan't really planning on breeding or raising the fry. like LB said sponge filters are the best for fry tanks as their are little to no treats to the fry.

u could also take a nylon soak it in water so color bleeds out the wrap it around the intake tube.very inexpensive and works very well.

A Sponge Filter is ideal for all types of Fry, as they wouldn't be sucked.

oh, fry in the filter isnt such a bad thing, just shut the filter off, pick out the filter pad, set it in a 10 gallon container or bowl, and give it a shake, the fry stuck to it will fall off and swim freely, also you can dump the filter water in the bowl too if you see fry in there too, a flashlight helps too

Oh! I never thought of going into the filter to get the fry, i thought they would get hurt by the fan inside. Thanks for all of the advice, i will have to try the sponge method next time.

Thanks guys(and girls)!

i was running an ecplice 6, and i thought they would die like that too, but in the filter pad, their were some babies still alive, so i did kinda what fishyhelper288 suggested and placed it into a bowl, and the fry swam off.
