How old do platys have to be to mate? Need answers ASAP! | |

I am getting 2 more females so the male can breed with them. How old do the male have to be to breed? Mine is about 3 months old and I once caught hime following the female around and wiggling his gonopodium. Could he be ready to breed? I don't mind about the baby overflow as I will have a betta in htere and I can also give some to my gouramis. |

houston Fish Guru You want what when? Also it will depend on whether the females will allow him to also, but more than likely they will If you already have 2 females and the 1 male don't worry about getting anymore, you'll be fine. Also what size of tank do you have them in? Is it well planted? You may not be concerned about the overcrowding, but you don't want to start on the verge of being overcrowded either. I am going to get 2 more females because every time I added 1 platy there was a problem so I will add 2. I am not sure if the female is letting it mate with her because the vet thought she was pregnant but she has been fat with no gravid spot for ages and no babies. |
