I have a guppy who I was positive was pregnant. She has the gravid spot and it seems fairly large. The problem is that it seems that she's been pregnant for more than a month now. Is that possible?

I also thought maybe she had the babies already. But wouldn't her gravid spot disappear or get significantly smaller?

I'm so confused. I wish I had known when the first time was that I noticed that she was pregnant.

Is there a website that displays photos of the stages of guppy pregnancy?

I missed it sec time and only had 1 not get eaten by other fish and i have a very heave live planted tank oh when you see her given birth put her in a floating breeder and keep the tank dark or she mite eat them as fast as they come out

Guppies always look pregnant, mostly because they always are. Are there other fish in with her that could have eaten the fry? She may have had them and be pregnant again. Keep lots of plants in the tank and look close every day and I bet you see some babies soon.

Good luck, Mike

I took out all the males. I wanted to see how many more times she would get pregnant without the males in the tank.

In the tank now, there are two juvenile guppies, two black tetra, and an albino tetra. I am not really concerned as to whether they get eaten. I really just wanted to make some observations about guppy pregnancies.

Its just hard to tell.....Even if she did get pregnant again afterwards, wouldn't it take some time to start showing again?

To me they always look like they're about ready to pop. The only way I could really tell which one gave birth was to look at the gravid spot. After they drop the fry the spot looks, not exactly smaller but less black, maybe even with a pink tinge around the edge.

Luck, Mike
