I got new babies!! | |
jefferysgirl Hobbyist Posts: 124 Kudos: 91 Registered: 22-Jun-2004 | yep these are all the second generation of guppies that i have raised. the mother seems to be a pale yellow color that you can only see when she swims right near the light. she has a grey body and black spots on her tail. the father is mostly black with a bright orange/red tail with a bit of yellow near the top and a yellowish/orange top fin. they are not a special kind of guppy. just the pet store variety but i love 'em just the same!!!! the guppy fry are getting alng so well with my panda cory fry!! its wonderful!!! |

Most of the fry are beginning to show black and some are showing an iridescent(?) blue one the top fin and tail. Some are a translucent yellow on their bodies and black on their fins. I can't wait to see which ones turn into what colors. I want to know who the daddy was. I hope it was my blue male and not some male that was their brother before i figured out the sexing thing. |

Right before a baby pops out, the general area gets rounded and she pops out anywhere from 1 fry to 3 fry at a time depending on the female and the fry "hit the ground running" usually. Sometimes they are kinda premature and have huge yellow bellies and just want to sit at the bottom of the tank, these usually get eaten unless you protect them and let them rest until they are ready to really swim. Sometimes she just drops out eggs, these were either too premature or unfertalized. These usually get gobbled up pretty quick too. |

I am going to be super agressive about properly sexing them early this time!! no more incidents like this last time. the sneaky little boy hide his true identity until after he had gotten all of my girls!! Now I have guppies galore!! I hope I have more males survive this time. I wonder how many babies i'll end up with in the end??? Who know's! I'll have to talk to the pet store about a deal for my babies. |

I have 10 babies from one guppy and now I have about 20 out of this guppy. and I have 2 more guppies ready to pop any day now!! I hope enough of them survive to fill out my "collection" I have got so many aquariums now i'm running out of space. I am permanently separating my males from my females from now on! |
