I went to the pet store last night in search of a male mickey mouse platy and a female betta. But they ran out or female bettas so i was kind of pissed. I don't know how, but i ended up with the male platy and a male and a female guppies. They are gorgeous though, i've never had guppies before

As long as you are not overstocking, the guppies, platys and bettas should work out fine.

What else is in the tank? You're going to need something on population control duty... I started with what I was told were three juvie female guppies; one developed into a lovely fish that is quite definitely male. I've have over two dozen fry in the past few months. Some haven't made it, but I still have an overstocked 10 gallon.

I have the Terrible Trio (my golden zebra danios) on population control, which is working nicely. They don't touch the older fry, but have a nice monthly live food banquet. The male guppies have been removed from the tank and hopefully my adult female will finish dropping sometime this century. And hopefully the female fry were young enough that THEY weren't impregnated before the males left.

Guppies aren't called "millions fish" for no reason!

Guppies, Platies & Bettas are Ok, but always stay under stocked. You'll soon have lots of fish, once they start breeding.
