WOOT!!! My roommate and i just found 13 new baby guppies. We know for a fact that the mother ate one b/c we saw her do it. I wonder how many she ate before we realized that she ahd had them. I hadn't realized how big my first batch of fry had gotten until i put my littlest ones in the breeder net. I have my 4 week olds in a 10 gal. w/ the net breeder in it.

Strangely, seven seems to be a frequent number for me, too - a couple of years ago, a guppy's first batch with a new mate had 7 fry, and another female a year ago had 7 in her first batch on her way to a new home.

Anyway, congratulations, Jefferysgirl. Good luck, too, since you might end up with a second breeder's net in that 10-gallon tank.

Congratulations again Mary! Now let's see that makes 11 from the last batch, and 13 this batch, so 24, unless there are some hiding, and you never can tell:%)well, you know what I'm gonna sayStart counting in another month you'll have another batch of fry!!! Congratulations!!!Heidi

Yeah they usually eat their babies , a good way to protect the babies for maybe the next birth is to get spawning grass. You can get it at walmart and most petstore/fishstore. Good Luck

Well I still have 13 little fry and they are a little over a week old. Still got my 6 older ones!!! I can't wait to see what my oldest babies look like when they get their colors. I have an LFS willing to buy my guppy babies b/c the ones they get are so inbred that they die off in a matter of days. Of over 400 guppies about 200 died in transit and only 40 made it through quarentine!!! he said that if i could get mine to mate with some of the ones he has then we should be able to have hardier fish and he would buy them all from me when they were old enough!!

Well, one of my littlest babies died yesterday. I have 12 now.
My big fry are starting to get colors. I think they are going to be yellow. they have little black dots on thier tails and bodies. is that any specific kind of coloration? I am not familiar with the different types f patterns.
