If a Mickey Mouse Platy breeds with another platy that doesn't have the mark, do the babies typically come out with or without the black spot?

well i can't answer this question directly, but i can however say that i had a female white platy somehow get pregnant by a mickey mouse platy, and she had some mickey mouse some white, and some orange fry? so... i think they could maybe store sperm from different breeds and have multiple-fathered fry. if that makes sense. then again im sure its a little genetics in there too.

How long have you had this platy?

Determining paternity can be hard because if you just purchased her, your next few batches of fry might come from a mickey mouse tankmate from the fish store.

I have had fry from a mickey mouse female and I'm 99% sure that their father is not a mickey mouse platy. They did have the markings.

yeah.. the thing is, they can hold sperm from other fish for up to three months, so you could have a fish having fry that are from a tank mate three months before.

so you know.. its hard to really tell.

I would assume that something similar to chelaine’s answer would happen. Most of them might show the markings, but to varying degrees of clarity and size.

Just my guess.

I can’t wait to breed my Sunset Platies with Golden Twin-Bars

I've had her for a while... maybe 8 months? So she's probably already used up any stored sperm, right? And in that time I've never noticed any other fry either, but my other fish could have eaten them.
