Whats the minimumtank size for them? Also, our mollies are kept in FW, can they stay that way? I always heard they preferred a good bit o' salt.

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

a 15-20 gl tank would be could. mollies prefer a lil salt in their water, about a tablespoon per 10 gl.

Mollies do well up to fully marine...I put about the equivalent of 2½ tablesppons per 5 gallons in with my mollies, anfd they thrive. The best way to gauge the salt you are putting in is with a hydrometer.

It's a common myth actually. Mollys do not require salt. Most Mollys have never seen salt. Most if not all the Mollys that inhabit the streams and rivers of Central America will live out their lives without ever venturing into brackish water. Many actually believe it is the hardness of the water which Mollys prefer.

The key thing Mollys require is clean water. Well aerated, well circulated, clean water with lots of swimming room.

I kept my mollies in a community tank at 78degrees and no salt. when the female started lookin a little peaked I moved them all (still searchin for more babies) over to another tank, added water and rocks from the big tank, and added about tblsp salt to it at 80 degrees. they all appear to be doing great, but I'm still searching for babies. somehow there always seems to be more.
