ashes Hobbyist Posts: 75 Kudos: 45 Votes: 0 Registered: 05-Oct-2005 | Hi my counciler at school gave me 2 molly fry (maby platy fry?) and I need to know what to feed and how to care for them. Thanks in advance for all help! I'm not sure if her fish is a molly or platy but i'm leaning more towards molly. |

Someone here told me the trick where you put the flakes in a ziplock bag, close it, and then mush them up until they are really tiny. Crushed blood worms (freeze dried) will work too, if you plan to vary the diet. Also, feed at least twice a day, small amounts, better would be 3 to 4 times. How long are the babies? Ingo |

I looked up pic's of Platys and Mollys and I think the moms a Platy. My counciler idin't even know she was pregnant she just poped out fry out of no were. The platy was given to her from another counciler at my school who got it at a lfs and she's had it for about a month or two. Anyways I crushed up some TetraMin tropical crisps, freeze dried daphnian and blood worms. they seemed to really like it so all just stick with that untill I can make a trip to my lfs and get somthing els. Also I was wondering if they need to be in a tank with a filter or air stone? For the moment I have them (theres 2 if any ones wondering) in a critter keeper that holds close to 1g with some fish gravel on the floor. If they need the filter or air stone I was thinking of getting one of those breeding keepers (the ones at WalMart) and putting them in my tank with my 3 WCMM's. |

Are live foods better for a fishes health than flakes? OK and I am deathly afraid of worms...even if they are a millimeter. Hugely phobic!!!!!! |

So that makes them barly a week old and they are both eating really good. Does anyone know of a good web site or anything like that that can tell me everything I need to know about the fry? I'm pritty sure they are Platy fry. |
