Molly fry!!! Need Help!!!! | |
Lawnboy41 Fingerling Posts: 32 Kudos: 29 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Mar-2005 | Ok here is my story. I have two tanks 1 20 gallon tank up for about 3 1/2 weeks. Ammonia 0 Nitrate 15 Nitrite 2.0 Tank occupants 2 catfish, 4 mollies 2nd tank 10 gallon up for a month and a half ammonia 0 nitrate 10 nitrite 1.0 Tank Occupants: 2 Neon Tetras, 2 Zebra danios, 2 guppies, 1 molly Recently (this morning) one of my pot bellied mollies had approximately 35-40 fry this morning. I had them in a breeding net. I took all the fish out of the 10 gallon and put them in the 20 gallon which now has (13 fish, from 6) I know this isn't good for the tank so I was wondering if there are any suggestions about what I should do. I don't think 30 something fry would survive in the breeding tank. I was thinking I could return the 2 catfish (which I bought a week ago) and maybe put the neon tetras in with the fry. This would only be an addition of 3 fish to the 20 gallon as opposed to 7 fish. Just curious if the neon tetras would eat the fry. I want to raise the fry and keep some and either give some away or try to sell them to a Local fish store nearby. I was also wondering the best way to feed my fry. The 10 gallon is a hexagon and is pretty tall and most of the fry are hanging out in the gravel at the bottom. Also any other information on raising molly fry would greatly be appreciated. Thanks Jamie |

If you are interested in raising the fry, i would keep the 20Gal tank for the Guppy's & Mollies & the 10Gal. tank as a breeder tank & return the rest of the fish to your LFS. You can feed the fry Microworms or finely crushed flakes. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |
