So I have heard that you can mix Guppies and Mollies to make Muppies. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have pictures? Thanks!!

Why would you want to intentionally hybridize two different species? Hybrids are a big enough problem in the hobby as it is.

You're right Cory Addict, & i also think that the problem is unfortunatly increasing.

Hybrids usually have various health problems or a low quality of life due to deformities. It's rarely a good idea to try to create hybrids.

This is not something that I am looking to make a lot of them. I am just wondering if it is posible and by no means do I want to spread them around. I have a nice warmouth in another tank that could and would have them gone in a matter of minutes time. Sorry to offend everyone.

Muppies and gollies provide intrest to an aquarium, and they do interbreed. I hear that the fry are much more delicate than the semi-hardy adults. When you get some muppies and gollies (as we call them) show us some photos!

"I believe platties and swordtails will interbreed but thats it for livebearers."

Mollies and guppies will interbreed as well. If two fishes are related closely enough(ususally share the same genus) and have no other alternative, they may interbreed.

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

Hmmm.. I just put 3 mollies into my tank with a 3 guppies and about 10 platies (about 7 of which are juveniles). I was just looking at the profiles and compatibility of mollies and other livebearers are not listed. Is putting these fish together a bad thing??

Interbreeding is bad
How would you like to see your cat breed with your dog?
Putting those livebearers together is creating an opportunity for them to interbreed.
In my opinion, a tank with all those three species housed together doesn't look as good as one of those specie.
Apart from interbreeding, it looks too disordered IMO.

I do have a picture of a Tigon (Tiger + Lion)
