My big fat platy | |
ImRandy85 Enthusiast Bleeding Blue Posts: 254 Kudos: 137 Votes: 75 Registered: 19-Dec-2006 | My platy gave birth to her first fry on the 8th of february. She is already looking like she is ready to burst again. I thought that it took 3+ weeks between birthings but if she's within a couple of dropping then thats only 2 weeks. Is it possible I'll have more fry after only 2 weeks? Here are some pictures (she's the orange fish) 1st, the mother about a month ago, weeks before she gave birth http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/imrandy85/aquarium/Scarletbottomwires.jpg another pre-birth http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/imrandy85/aquarium/MissScarletandMrs.jpg here are a couple from today she's the one in the back http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/imrandy85/aquarium/alltheplaties.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e237/imrandy85/aquarium/pregnant.jpg |

She is most likely just filling back up with eggs/ and or you are going to have a larger size brood as more are developing inside her than last time. I hope this all made sense and good luck. |

I don't know how many fry your platy had previously, but they can have as many as 80 off-spring. Jim |

I was only able to save one fry again as it was very unexpected that it was so soon. I wish I could catch her giving birth so I would know how many fry are actually coming out. But the new little fishy is in with the 17 day old fishy and the snail. |
