I just got 2 blue Platies. I had seen them before, no big deal. But now that they're in my tank, they are beautiful! I don't no what it is, but I really like them. After a few weeks, I'm gonna get 2 more. Would it be better to get the same color, or doesn't it matter with Platies?

nice, i would say add some other types of platties, for instance pineapple, the yellow would go nicely with the blue. i don't believe there is a problem with diffrent platties in a tank unless you want to breed, then you may find "mutts" where the colour varies on the fish, not to say that is a bad thing. they can be quite beautiful.

Color doesn't matter unless you're trying to breed for a certain color. Personal preference.

Do you have a M/F pair? If so and you're adding 2 more it would be best to go with additional females. A minimum ratio of 1M/2F keeps the stress down on the females.

Well, I believe I have 2 females. Not positive though. Anyway, I have since moved my Betta to my Cory tank, which leaves the 2 Platies by themselves in a 10 gallon. So now in about a month I will finish stocking this tank. Six Platies(2M & 4F) in a 10 gallon is fine, right?

I also have 2 female blue and white platys.... Frankly, I find them beautiful!!!! It definitely is a matter of choice when it comes to your new additions - Whether you want to have a presentation of various color or whether you would prefer to have a color theme for your tank..... Either way, you can find true enjoyment! One of my blue females had fry - which we now have in a nursery tank... "Daddy" was orange with black spots and black fins... So what we ended up with in the fry is quite a mixture of color and design! To be honest, the blue and white platys are a rare commodity in my area, so if I was a true breeder I would probably try to keep the strain pure -- but my fish are for enjoyment and personal interest... And I find plenty of that in ANY color! Best of luck!
