I have 6 neon tetra's with four guppies in a 40 gallon tank Im planning on adding the rest of my guppies (about 7) at intervals (neons cycled my tank for me) but I've been reading and some people say its not okay to keep them together and some say its okay. Im a little confused what do you guys think?

This is fine, I've had two tanks set up with neons & guppies,

Currently I have 12 neons, 6 guppies, 4 dwarf neon rainbowfish & a small pleco in my 33g uk.

All fine & dandy (FYI i will move the pleco out when its grown up a bit, due to size not temperement).

depending on the tank size neons or cardinals and guppies can be housed together with no problem.

Guppy's & Neons go fine together, but remember that Neons need to stay in schools.

6 is a minimum, but they'll be just fine.

the more you can get (depending on tank size) the happier they'll be & the prettier they'll look.

See what deals your lfs is doing...mine was 10 for £10 but I found a new lfs who do 12 for £10 so thats how many I got.

Neons make great tankmates for adult guppies. But I wouldn't expect to see any fry. I never saw fry from my guppies until I seperated them into their own tank. I made the mistake of adding one fry to my community tank a little too soon and one of the tetras got an afternoon snack

Yep, they are fine together. Just allow plenty of room for them to swim about and they should be fine.
