Hey all, I now have 10 NEW Platy fry!!!! yea!! Boy they are tiny.... I took the mamma out about 30 min ago... they are swimming around the birthing cage like crazy.. swimming to the top to eat.. which is good ..

so now my Platies population are as followed...

(1) adult Male
(2) adult Females
(3) three week old fry - I did have 4 but 1 became missing the other day.. I think he got ate by one of my Danios
(10) six hour old fry

I need a bigger tank..LOL Looks like my next payday, I will be getting my new 55g.. I might just up that to a 75g ..

Congrats on your new arrivals... I've stopped trying to count mine, gives me a headache trying! Now my original 3 fry are 5 months and seem to be starting their own families... so who knows how many I'll end up with! Luckily we have a friend who wants a few for his tank or we'd have to buy more tanks just for the platies! Oh, and I mistakenly found out the following tip for myself: we had a few fry born in our main tank (with a temp of 78 deg F) and our nursery tank was at 75 deg... the fry in our main tank are at least a month younger and almost twice the size of the ones in the nursery tank... so ppl are right in suggesting you raise the temp to help them grow. We didn't realize our nursery tank was so low and have since corrected it. Anyhow, sorry for the ramble and good luck with your fry.
