Never see them that often. So I pick two. Of course I chose the fat and healthy ones. In my head I was like, cool, two pregnant female guppies, I can get free guppies now. Anyway, as of today...I have over 20 guppy fry....which is a little too much for me, since I'm new. I spent about an hour using a turkey baster to suck up the fry and put them in a few breeder nets. I don't have any small tanks with filters for them. Now these are my questions: 1) Will they be able to grow well in a couple of breeder nets hanging inside a 29 gallon tank with heater and filter? 2) What do I feed them. 3) When should I release them into the tank to swim with their mama(s)?? |

With Guppies you will have more in about a month with or without males in the tank. If you can't swing another tank put a bunch of plants in and turn them loose now. Make sure the plants a very close together so the big fish have a hard time swimming through them. Feed them crushed up flakes. Good luck, Mike |

Each month the females will begin to have more and more fry with each drop. Definately look into a ten gallon. It's easiest to keep it bare, because of all of the water changes you'll need to do. You can get a bunch of plants but if you want to keep the fry I would not recommend it. Since adult guppies are small they'll be able to get to most of them pretty easily and most of your fry will be eaten. Try a sponge filter with the fry so that they don't get sucked up. Wait until the guppies are half an inch to an inch before you put them with the adults. I've never had much luck with crushed flakes so I recommend getting some fry food. Forgot what it's called but it's a liquid food that you drop into the water. You can get it at most pet stores. Good luck with them! -Nemo |
