No guppy babies | |
jenbabe256 Big Fish Posts: 316 Kudos: 312 Votes: 10 Registered: 21-Jul-2004 | This is more out of curiosity than anything because I don't really want to be overrun with guppies anyways, but I have 3 (2 girls and a boy) guppies in a ten gallon with 4 cories. They have been in this tank for over 4 months and I have yet to see one baby. The females will get bigger and I'll think that soon I will see some fry, but then one day I will look in the tank and they will be back to normal size. Is something eating all of them? Am I doing something wrong? I thought these guys were supposed to be prolific breeders. TIA Jen |

If your females are getting fat and then returning back to their normal size, and getting fat again...over and over again...running about a month at a time, then the females are having fry that are being eaten. It happened to me for quite awhile till I added plants...the plants provide hiding holes for the fry to hide in. But, since you said you didn't want to be overran with fry don't worry about it then. One more thing, if you have one of the filters that hangs from the side, I've heard of people finding fry in there, I actually found goldfish eggs in it once...:%) Heidi [/font] "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom."
