Hello,
Are there any live bearers that provide parental care to their fry? Thanks.

Not that I'm aware of, and in fact it's really not needed (of course, I now expect Cali or someone to come in here with some really obscure species of livebearer that in fact DOES provide some care ). Livebearer fry are quite large when born, and can generally care for themselves.

Not sure about all livebearers, but my mollies did't provide any care for the young. In fact she would often gulp one down when it swam past.

Nope.

The reason that livebearers are born so big is that they have to fend for themselves from the outset. IF they can escape mums jaws that is!!!

They seem big enough but they still get eaten. They cannot outrun/outhide their parents. Thanks Anyways.

PS. Cali got any rare fish that do?

If your trying to protect fry you can remove the parents or provide a lot of cover for babies to hide in.

Of course as long as predators are around some fry will get caught and eaten. This is usually beneficial as only the strongest fry survive and you have less mouths to feed.

Unless you're setting up some sort of breeding program and want to raise as many fry as possible.
