Gang,

I though I share an experience with you.

Some of you might know that a few months ago I was raising the question when it would be time to release my Sunset Platy fry into my [link=29G Tank]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/61406.html" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link]. At that time, I had them separated in a corner of the tank for almost 3 months and only then did I feel secure enough to open the gates.

Well, about 2 months have passed since then and by now the babies have babies . What a surprise!!! This time, I decided to let Mother Nature run the show, I have a large Tenellus garden in the tank and fry can hide in there. About 3 days ago, the fry started to swim in the open, and that not only during feeding time. I estimate that they are about 2 weeks old (and there are 2 of them). Unfortunately, I could not get a picture of them, as they are darn fast and always on the watch that none of the adults (10 Platies, 4 Neons, 4 Zebra Danios) eat them.

Luckily, the same happened in my [link=20G Tank]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/63901.html?08496973" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link]. There, the 2 female Gold Twin Bar Platies had fry, about 5 days apart, and now that the 12 Rasbora Espei and 4 Otos are removed from the tank the older fry (2 – at about 2 weeks old) swim full time in the open. The younger ones (2 - maybe 9 days olds) stay closer to the plants and the bottom of the tank.

What I want to say is: I greatly underestimated the cunningness of these little buggers when I confined them for 3 months. It is so much fun to watch them swim in the open of the tank.

Ingo

Can you find the Baby?
