What kind of fish would you suggest adding to the tank now. All I have are 3 platys. Also is it normal to find them first thing in the morning almost "sleeping" on the bottom of the tank. If I turn on the light in 10 minutes or so they are up and at em swimming, but its like their sound asleep their.

You can keep almost anything with platies -- they are very agreeable little fish. The limiting factor would be the size of your aquarium. I've never really noticed them sleeping on the bottom, but I have my aquarium lights on a timer, so I don't usually see them right when the lights go on.

I have a 10 gallon tank. I liked to get some fish in their that are active and that would school, but at the same time aren't going to be nipping at eachother.

You don't have a lot of room in a ten gallon aquarium. Maybe a small school of harlequin rasboras?
