umm, please read this about livebearers[link=http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Livebearers%20Lane/64057.html]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Livebearers%20Lane/64057.html" style="COLOR: #FFFF00[/link]

as stated in the other new post about this, some people said from 50-100, but given the female size/age/and condition, in the community tanks the survial rate goes down with the hungry mouths in the tank.

But can a platy live in a 2 gallon bowl with no heat??
Until the spawn and then I can move her back to the original tank and find a home for the fry.

oops forgot to answer the question. if u have a little sponge filter u can add into there, it could work. but they also make those breeding traps that go into the main tank.

Depends on how planted the tank is. More plants=more survivors.

Give then 2 weeks in a bowl, that should let them grow enpough so as not to be immediately eaten

You can also put it in a plactic bowl & leave it to float in your tank. If you have floating plants, you'll have a better survival rate.
