Yes, then can.

If it's important to you to distinguish between regular (maculatus) and variatus, keep in mind that many platy strands are variatus without being named so (i.e. mickey mouse platy).

Platys are the friendliest fish ive ever kept, unfortunatly often killed by other fish though.
