I am cycling my tank (75g) right now with 5 platys and every morning the first thing I do is make sure they are all still there. Well this morning all I saw was one swimming around by its self, I then freaked out thinking that they were all dead. But I couldn't see any little bodies, so I moved some stuff around and found them all (hiding, or sleeping or whatever they were doing) in a fake little stump. So I was just wondering what anyone thinks they were doing? Are they stressed? Or scared? Or am I freaking out for no reason?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. They had just probably found what they thought was a secure space to rest after lights out

That must be where they feel the safest in the tank...you might want to try adding some live plants...it will also give them some great places to hide/sleep/whatever...also provides good places for when a female goes to deliver fry and a place for the fry to hide...heidi

I suppose you aren't the only one with 'hiding' platies. Last time I had some they tended to go into a hole in a fake branch I had in my 29 gallon. I believe their reason was due to my overly-stressfull Dwarf Gourami, Pig. He never hurt the little guys, just sorta stalked them every time he got the chance.

Since you have a 75 gallon tank, I'd normally assume you have more than just five platies in there. If that's it, then I really can't tell ya why they're doing that, other than sleeping maybe...
