I recently purchased ONLINE 10 red blood marigold sailfins. They are gorgeous. I just got them and I noticed two died. I would expect that some would die after the acclimatization process, but is this truly normal? This is the first time I have purchased fish online so I don't know what really to expect. When I buy fish at the LFS sometimes I lose a couple.... The others look fine so far. I did water changes and they are eating fine...

what do ya'll think??

Not normal. However, fish coming in from much farther away than your LFS need a much longer acclimation to be safe, since the water at the seller's could be extremely different from yours. Did you do an "LFS acclimation" or a "mail-order acclimation"? I usually do two hours or longer for even the hardiest mail-order fish.

I agree with LM as they need to be aclimated differently than fish being purchased from a LFS. I would do a drip on them. Put them in a bucket, take some airline hosing and siphon some water from the main tank into the bucket. Tie the air line to cut down the speed to a very small drip. Also, you can empty half water once it starts to collect and continue doing the drip method. This is the best way to acclimate fish.

I guess I did an LFS acclimation.... Today they are doing great. Haven't lost any more fish. It's been a week now. Hopefully the rut is over!

THANKS EVERYONE!
