How much salt should be added to the water for mollys? I don't put that much in at all, and mine are fine. But some say i should add more, i've even read that only the black molly needs alot.

Actually Mollys that are born and raised in Captivity do not require salt in their water. They are kept in freshwater their whole lives. You dont need to add any salt to their water at all!
And all "colors" of mollys are actually the same species.

There are three species of mollies usually avaliable. One is the species Poecilia sphenops (which is black mollies, gold mollies, ballon mollies etc.) See how your LFS keeps them. Many mollies are bred/raised in freshwater. I feel it is an owners decision if they want to keep them with some salt or not.

Different species of mollies have been found living in soft freshwater, to full marine water.

Yep, thats what I meant lol sorry sometimes my tongue gets ahead of my brain! :%)
Yeah, like black, silver, gold, etc mollys, balloon belly mollies are all the same species, and sailfins are a different species, and there is a 3rd species I cant name for you.
They are tolerant hardy fish. Find out what your LFS keeps them in (brackish or fresh) and then reproduce those conditions at home. You could even wean them onto freshwater slowly.
