Should I get a few more males or shouls I get more females? The LFS near where I work has some very nice imported guppies. I was thinking a nice trio (1male to 2 females) or should I get a pair since I already have 5 females? A very hard decision. Steve ![]() |

Are you breeding for a purpose? What do you plan to do with the fry (sell them? dispose of them? allow nature to take its' course by other fish eating them? etc. Then the next consideration would be, do you have the room for whatever is planned?) If you want LOTS of babies - purchase just females... The two males you already have will be more than happy to "service" them.... And if you buy from a mixed male/female guppy tank - some will already be pregnant.... REMEMBER! Guppies can hold sperm, and become pregnant multiple times with no male being present! If you're wanting a variety of color in your tank - choose accordingly - a new male would definitely add to the possibilites..... Really, the choice is up to you..... Guppies are certainly prolific... Good Luck! ![]() ![]() To thine own self be true... |
