Sterile female livebearers? | |
hrk555 Small Fry Posts: 4 Votes: 0 Registered: 04-May-2005 | Someone warned me the other day that some of the female livebearers sold at LFS are in fact sterile. Does this actually happen? He suggested its done to fish like Sailfins mollies because of their potential value (at least here in Aus). Does this sound right? If its true how do they do it? I bought a pair of gold sailfins and he thinks the female is in fact sterile - I must say she doesn't really have that plump look (had them a month or so). |

I wondered this cos my second generation mollies(ie ones ihave breed)never get pregnant, over the two years never once have they even looked pregnant, despite having a male in the tank. I giving it one last try and am picking up a nice big boyfor my two ladies this week! i would love to breed from them but will shall see.... GFG Never be bullied into silence.
