I have this guppy fry which was born a day ago, and it is always swimming vertical. This fry has and arched backbone as well. Does anyone know whats causing this?

He may have been born with a defect, and there may not be a cure. I have experienced deformed guppy fry and i just left them, but they usually die eventually. Yours may still be developing and is not able to swim horizontal.

Whatever the problem is i hope it turns out ok!!! Good luck!!

the deformed backbone can also be tuberculosis.. or fish TB... usually livebearers have a few fry either turn out deformed or weak, and most die off. i think a number of things can cause birth defects, including the fish being too young, or stressed, or also it could be a genetic problem. either way, if the fish doesnt start eating normally and swimming normally there might be some problems in the end.

Don't want to sound crass, but you really should euthanize this fish. It obviously was born with some type of birth defect, and in the wild would not have lasted more than a few hours at most.

You are not doing it any favors by attempting to save it.
