Recently one of my female swords has had a whole load of of fry i moved them to a seperate tank, but the tank is getting really green i have cleaned but it continues to grow. i was wondering if it would be alright to put a pleco in the tank to help clean up the place.

Add some real or fake plants and they should be just fine.

Is the water green or is it on the sides of the tank? If the water is green doing a water change will help. If it is on the walls get a scruber and scrub that stuff off.

Is your tank by a window? How long do you leave your light on in the tank? I never run mine any longer than 12 hours, do weekly water changes and wash down the walls, and never get algae build up.

Due to contrary belief a plecostomus will not help your tank that much with an algae problem. Checking the filter and doing frequent water changes will immensely help the situation. Although plecostomus do clean off some algae they are not the solution to your problem,
