I also moved the female back to the 5g because she should have her 3rd set of fry in the next 2 days. I was planning to stop after this batch but this is kinda fun. I'm wondering if I breed that lyretail back to the female or to the male with the 2 colored tail what I'll get. The only problem I'm kind of ignoring is what to do with these guppy fry By the time they get color they are too big for anything I have to eat them and they aren't really show quality so I doubt anyone wants them. It's not too bad so long as I control who's pregnant and what batch of fry survives but if I get too many pregnant females my sparkling gouramis aren't going to keep up with fry management of the ones I don't want to give birth. I better come up with a plan soon. The yellow snakeskin female is giving birth to slightly over 1 dozen each time so in 2-3days guppies will number around 3-4dozen and I'd rather turn that 20g into a saltwater tank instead of a guppy tank. |

I make sure their well-fed, and the tank has a big jungle of hornwort for fry to hide in...I just can't figure it out ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | Well I guess the female decided there are enough guppies sharing her tanks now and ate all but 5 of the new fry. That leaves me with around 30fry, 3 adult males, 1 adult female. All the known males have been moved to the 90g and the females will be left in the 20g with the sparkling gouramis until they are no longer pregnant. Later I might decide to breed the lyretail if I can find homes for the current guppies. If only there was a fish that selectively ate guppies.... Last edited by sham at 26-Oct-2005 21:29 |
