Timid Balloon Mollies | |
zachjc_14 Enthusiast Posts: 205 Kudos: 211 Votes: 24 Registered: 20-Apr-2004 | I have purchased a male and female balloon molly for my community planted tank. They do not ever seem to swim about when I am in the room aor in the presence of any light whatsoever. These fish are very active when I view them from outside my room and the flourescent lights are out. what could be causing this timid behaviour? I am suspect that the female is about to drop fry but I cannot tell for sure. Could anyone supply me with a picture of a pregnant balloon molly. |

It seems whenever i add a new tankmate, the older shyer fish get braver and come out into the open. So maybe try adding another female. Furthermore, depending on the size of the tank i would get another female to even out the chasing and the agression that male mollies will do to the females. Your balloon molly probably is about to drop fry because it seems that livebearers are always about to drop fry! So always be prepared if you want to save the fry have another tank or tons of plants ready! |
