	What are my platties doing?
ReikoX Hobbyist Posts: 71 Kudos: 306 Votes: 14 Registered: 29-Jun-2004	I just got a few platties. They are playful fish. I've seen them "act weird" a few times. By act weird here is what they do. They go up to the filter current, then swim against it on their side for a few seconds. I've seen them do this a few times at the top as well. They will float on thier side, then flip the tail a few times until another one comes up to them. I've seen several different ones doing this. Is this normal? By the way, the tank is cycling. Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003	Normal for a cycling tank IMO. Try adding an airstone or bubble wall to increase surface agitation. They should settle down once you're done cycling. ^_^

Azn_Devil Big Fish Posts: 366 Kudos: 310 Votes: 5 Registered: 30-Apr-2004	i see something like that with my guppies.... my male would get the 2 female's attention then swim agaisnt my filter currents, flapping its big tail. then the females swim away together and the male follows em i guess my males are trying to impress the girls, maybe yours is doing the same?
