Also if you are adding salt to the molly tank the gouramis won't lik it but most mollies have been tank bred so long they survive just as well in complete freshwater as brackish. Gouramis usually don't like to be cramped with alot of similar sized fish and also usually not with many other gouramis. The largest and the smallest of the common gouramis tend to be the most peaceful. The most common gouramis are usually the dwarf and the 3spot/blue gourami but they are more agressive than some of the others. Sometimes you can only fit 1 per tank. I have a blue gourami in a 90g that kills any other gourami I add aside from the sparkling gouramis which are maybe 1/10th his size and not a threat. Other times you can keep 3 in a 29g tank without problems. It depends on personality and how much space you have as to how many can be kept. Last edited by sham at 02-Dec-2005 03:11 |

Beardude Big Fish Posts: 309 Kudos: 26 Votes: 2 Registered: 11-Mar-2001 | I have a pair of Moonlights in a 40G with some sailfin mollies and everything is great They're even nest building Moonlights are extremely peaceful and full of personality. I havent mixed them with other gouramis but I think they'd go well with Pearls. I found 3 spots to be incredibly aggresive towards other gouramis. IMO dont even try it. Dwarf Flame gouramis are borderline. Good Luck |

Size & age can be different, but the fish colours must be very close. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

They are the same species. I would also up the number of danios to 6. Then you could consider adding a gourami or two or three. I particularly like Pearl Gouramis, they are gorgeous, not too big, very friendly, and very peaceful. They grow to about 4 inches, and you could easily add 2-3 females and 1 male to your tank. If you were to go with any of the larger gouramis, like blue, gold, cobalt, snakeskin, moonlight gouramis, I would do either just 1 of them, or a pair, 1 m 1 f. You dont really need to add salt to your water. I would begin to slowly wean your fish off it, by not adding any more. Water changes will slowly remove it over time. The tetras and any gouramis, and particularly the pleco will appreciate no salt in the water, and mollies dont really need it. They do fine in freshwater, I keep sailfins in full freshwater and they are exceptionally healthy and long lived, some are 3 years old!
