Why do my 2 preg blk mollies stay on the top of the water?
The are in a 10 gal with another molly, 1 small gup, 1 reg size gup and a algea eater. I have a long bubble bar in there so Im sure they are getting enough oxygen. Just did a small water change today. They ate fine. Dont seem distressed. Whats up?

that tank is over stocked, mollies though (lfs dont usually) but wild yuctuan mollies can reach over 7 inches, and the agale eather wiether being a CAE or a pleco(not ottos) will def. out grow a ten. salt is a good idea, b/c mollies can be in brackish and without salt they are supose to be more supeciable to illness. or so said.

anyway, chances are that they will give birth soon, b/c it is usually once a month and they can spawn many times without a male in the tank, however i would not keep any of those fish in there except the platy. get a 29.

here is a link about overstocking livebearer tanks.

The fish all seem fine. My other 10 gal has more than that in it and it is my best tank. I cant afford a 29 gal. We only have one place here to buy tanks and thats WalMart. We have two LFS but Im sure the ones there are more expensive than the ones at WalMart. You know how it is...people overstock because they cant help but buy fish when they know they shouldnt......

I only have 4 cherry barbs in the cherry barb tank. Seeing how each one will get just over an inch long, if that big, they should be fine. All my fish except the algea eaters are as big as they will get. A site on here that a man has that is just about Guppies said he puts 20 gups in a 10 gal. Whats in my other tank? A med size platy(that I raised from fry), 2 full grown platties, pleco, 3 full size guppies. And not a fish has died yet. They all eat like crazy and are extrememly active. I dont plan on buying any more fish....unless I get another tank.
