I would even say they go into somewhat of a "jaws" mode...*humms jaws theme* In the tank where I have the "births" and keep the fry, I have A LOT of plants (fake and real) for them to hide immediately when they are born, when the mama's are done, I move them to a seperate tank and let the fry grow in peace. |

Forever-mango Fish Addict Posts: 611 Kudos: 586 Votes: 35 Registered: 01-Dec-2003 | I agree with Jamie I place the pregnant females into breeding nets full of plants (live). Once she gives birth the fry will swim to safety, some fry will definately get eaten, but since from the protection from plants...only a minimum will get eatten. Hope they all go well for you! houston Fish Guru You want what when? Leave momma to be in the tank. Trust me she will drop more fry than you will want to try and keep track of, and each month she will drop even more/batch than the month previous...right now my 29 tank looks like an ant bed, and the adults are in there with them:%) heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom."
