Guppies will breed no matter what, and yes they will eat their fry, so set up a seperate tank and put the babies in there seperate from the parents and other adults, then when they are big enough you can re palce them in the main tank.

Yes, they will eat the fry, but you can add some hiding places in your tank where the fry can stay & the big ones cannot enter.

They definetely eat the fry... I would even say they go into somewhat of a "jaws" mode...*humms jaws theme* In the tank where I have the "births" and keep the fry, I have A LOT of plants (fake and real) for them to hide immediately when they are born, when the mama's are done, I move them to a seperate tank and let the fry grow in peace.

I agree with Jamie I place the pregnant females into breeding nets full of plants (live). Once she gives birth the fry will swim to safety, some fry will definately get eaten, but since from the protection from plants...only a minimum will get eatten.

Hope they all go well for you!

Plant your tank, at least a section of it so the fry have a place to go and hide. get some Anarcharis, plant it, then take some more and let it float freely above the rest. Leave momma to be in the tank. Trust me she will drop more fry than you will want to try and keep track of, and each month she will drop even more/batch than the month previous...right now my 29 tank looks like an ant bed, and the adults are in there with them:%) heidi
