bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004	are endlers and guppies the same fish? my grandpa has endlers for about 25 years so they have been interbreeding. n.e way i have brought a couple pairs and females home to add to my endlers collection. now i have read alot about endlers and guppies being and not being the same. so which is right.

So...now there are hybrids of guppies and endlers everywhere, and you aren't sure if that endler you are buying had a guppy grandparent.

Alkyne Mega Fish Posts: 1053 Kudos: 2064 Votes: 23 Registered: 29-Apr-2003	Since it is believed that endler's are now extinct in the wild (though there are reports of a second site in the wild they can be found at) we try to keep them pure and not mix species and destroy the pure bloodline of them.

T/A Mega Fish Posts: 942 Kudos: 1796 Registered: 20-Feb-2004	There is no harm in combining the two, if it is just for your personal experience. If you plan on selling the offspring, please don't cross breed them. Like Alkyne said endlers are so rare that mixing them with guppies would be a disaster to the fish keeping community.
