im so happy!!! i found a platy fry!!! just one tho...
when fries are born, how big are they? and up to how many fries can the female platy have? oh man, when i found the
fry, my gouramies and my female betta was circling the area where the fry was like sharks looking for food! i drove to petco and bought a breeder's net and little fake plants to put in there. the fry is doing really well and eating! im so happy. it seems like my female platy is pregnant again.

actualy, if she has dropped all her load she is pregnant again, females can store sperm, so if all their fry get eaten, she will have another batch if there is no males around, she may have a few more drops before she is empty

congrats on the baby platy. I managed to catch two baby platys, five baby swordtails and three baby black mollies about 2 months ago. I first had them in nets but then moved them to a tank of their own where they are now growing quite quickly. I did lose two of the black baby mollies though but the other is doing well. Good luck I hope the baby grows into a lovely platy for you.

Congrats I don't try to rescue fry but I have one guppy and two platies that managed to survive on their own. One of the platies is now a soon-to-be mom

i have two female platy in my tank. the day i found the fry, one of my female platy was on the bottom of the tank, which is very unusual for my platies, and around her, there were so many (.)<--- these looking things moving around. but the fries cant be that small, can they? well, for few days, my platy was pretty skinny and now, shes getting fatter by the day. thanks for all ur replies!!!!

Fry ARE small... they look like two tiny pin-prick eyes attached to a nearly invisible tail. A tiny, invisible tail at that!

Gouramis, bettas, danios... all those are going to enjoy a quick lunch. I've never had a problem with fry in my breeder net (I save one batch of fry and the rest have to fend for themselves) and my guppies' first drop is alive and well. Of the subsequent drops, I have maybe ten or so fry. Watch them carefully these first few weeks... they grow fast!

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~
