What type of fry our we talking about?

If just wanting to keep a few you can begin by culling the smallest and those that appear to be the weakest.

As the fish grow those that are the largest and most colorful can be separated out and the others culled.

culling is killing th.e fry. by the way the parent guppies will take care of most of the baby guppies.

After the first batch of fry are produced, add some zebra danios. That's of course, if you have room in the tank. The danios should keep the population stable. Since adding them with my platies, I haven't had any fry survive.

have some fish that eat them, and get some plants in there for the fry to hide in!

72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up
75 gallon: A. Baenschi trio,Cyanotilapia Afra Cobwe(4), copadichromis trewavase, protomelas sp. tangerine tiger(breeding pair)

You can have some floating plants, so the fry can hide & survive. You can also add some big bodied Tetra's & they will eat the fry.

If you are looking for a way get fry from your livebearers the thing that I've had the most success with is Java Moss. This is a perfect plant for hiding fry and giving them a place to grow before venturing out to the other fish. The way that I did it when my guppy was expecting was to take a good portion of the moss and just spread it out and up. I want to say that if I had to put dimensions on it the moss was 4"x4"x4" but obviously not square and not that dense either. Shortly after I did that I got the biggest batch of fry I've ever gotten. Than that's when you worry about the fry control fish Danios and tetras are great for that in my experience.
