Azn_Devil Big Fish Posts: 366 Kudos: 310 Votes: 5 Registered: 30-Apr-2004 | well i was wondering what is wrong with my male guppies. theyre about 6 months old now and they have their full color, but their tail fins are still sooo little and theyre hardly even an inch long. while the females have grown huge, around 1.5" long. they look like they could eat the males -_- can any one help me find out whats wrong? or does it just take the males a longer time to grow to full size? i have had one blu emale grow to nearly full size, but it was attacked by other males :| |

As far as how big their fins get, it depends on the kind of guppy you have. Some types like the snakeskin get really long flowing fins in the males and others seem to not be much better looking than the females. Some of my males stay teenie tiny, but they are always twice as small as the females. |

Your guppies are still young, and will continue to grow slowly throughout their lives now. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

Males are always a lot smaller than females though Labrakitty....thats because Platys are substantially larger than guppies! The average Male guppy at 1 year: 1.5 inches, the average male platy at 1 year, 2 inches...the average female guppy at 1 year 2-3 inches, the average female platy at 1 year 3-3.5 inches and 2 inches in diameter. PLatys are really quite the large fish in comparison to a guppy, and do grow much faster in my experience than guppies do. And sometimes some fish just stay small!
