I redid my livebearer tank today. Before there was a fake log about 4X3 and a few plants. I put in driftwood, one piece about 10in long and about 3 wide. I have it sitting on its side. The other two pieces...one is small, its kinda of like a thick "flake". It just about 2 inches high. The other piece is about 4 inches high. I added more plants also. I know before they stayed pretty much near the bottom to mid part of tank. Now they stay about mid to top part of tank. They arent nipping at the top of the water. Before I had a long bubble bar for aeration and now I have just a small air stone. Im worried they arent getting enough air because they have changed places in the tank. However, it could also be because the free space in the tank is in a different place. Meaning the lower part of the tank isnt as free as before. Could this be the reason of them changing their spots or does someone think it could be the lessened amount of oxygen??

Hey Ladie,

Your guppies probably moved becuase you rearranged the tank.
As long as you have surface agitation of some sort, whether it
be from a filter or airstone, they should be okay. You
would know if there was a drastic decrease in dissolved oxygen
since your fish will be gulping at the surface. I'd keep an
eye on them jsut in case, but I highly doubt you brought O2
to a critically low level.

HTH,
Megil.

Yes, it doesn't require alot unless your water is really hot,
which i doubt. it's probably in the 70's, in which case it
should be fine with the aereation you are providing.

Megil.

Hmmm...that I didnt know. Ive been trying to up my temps since it has gotten colder here. I turn my heat down to like 65 or even turn it off at night. I am getting new heaters because my temps in my tanks have been dropping about 5 degrees sometimes at night!
Ive been trying to get my temps to about 77-78. When I get my new heaters I will keep all my tanks at 77-78.
