Ogrt48 Fingerling Posts: 39 Kudos: 16 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Jul-2005 | I want some babies lol. I have a 10gal with a male betta, male sword tail and a female swordtail. The swordtails get along great with my betta. I've had them about 2-3 days now and the beta since July.. Is there any special way to speed up the swordtails producing some babies for me? /:' |

Why don't you stick with things in the 10 that won't breed and start saving for a bigger tank. But keep in mind, as babies grow they need more and more room. thirty half grown swordtails need alot of tank and no store is going to want them until then. Good luck, Mike |

DO RESEARCH about what it takes before you just decide you want some babies... Chelle *Chelle* I love the fishes cuz they're SOOO delicious... |

Not many will fit in a 10g if at all once adult. You'd be better off with a couple 20g or 30g tanks and those will be filled with fry in pretty short order. At least they would be if you didn't have a betta in there. Labyrinth fish like bettas love fry and make wonderful population control. With only 1 female giving birth your betta will just enjoy a feast everytime and the 2 adult swordtails will probably help out. Then what do you do with the ones that survive? |
