I think my oldest fry are about two months, and I've already separated out four males (young mothers, first drops, so the numbers were small). I made a post a while back on the fry I was calling a [link=late bloomer]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Livebearers%20Lane/51313.html" style="COLOR: #00A0AE[/link]... he developed WAY past the time all the others did, but eventually turned out to be male... I've heard that temperature and/or water conditions can influence the sex of fry. I know my tank was up around 82 when my current batches of fry were born, because that was the room temperature (silly summer weather), and most of them are female. *shrugs* ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
