MY guppie is going 2 give birth soon but is very stressed since I put her in the breeding net. I heard salt can calm down fresh water fish. does anyone know if this is true and if so how much salt 2 put in for a 10 gallon tank?

They sell aquarium salt. The stuff I have says one rounded tablespoon per 5 gallons. I think it might be easier to get a bunch of plants and make the back half of the tank into a thicket for the fry to hide in. It can take awhile after we decide it's time for them to decide it's time. You can't rush mother nature.

Good luck, Mike

Very stressed pregnant guppy = very bad. My advice: forgo breeding nets. IMHO, they do more good then harm. Let the mother drop right in the tank... it will be much better for her and if you have enough decorations/plants many of the babies will survive.

EDIT: I meant more harm then good. Sorry

Dont use a breeding net. Get a nice tupperware container of any kind, mine is about 8 inches tall, 6 inches in diameter and has happy penguins ice skating all around it , into this place 1 air stone, connect to pump, add clean, treated water.
Leave mother guppy in regular tank, make sure there is lots of floating plants, live or plastic are fine. Allow mother to have babies, collect once born, and place in the tupperware container.
Baby guppys dont require a heater if you keep the room at a decent temperature. I raise mine at around 21 degrees, and I have a very high rate of success.
Feed them 5-8 times a day small small amounts. Clean the container with an air hose tube into a cup and refill every day or so.
Good luck!
