I have managed to keep 10 of my guppy fry alive. They even made it through the ice storm and the 4 day power outage. They are so much bigger than they were when they were born. They are even starting to get black on their tails. I love these little guys. I'm gonna be sad when they grow up.

That's great! Keep up the good work, I am glad you were able to save some of them. I have a hard time keeping mine when they are born...I have to act fast or they become LUNCH! Take care!

Congrats. for the Guppy fry. Well done & keep up the good work. You're going to enjoy watching them grow up in your tank.

Mary, I'm so happy for you. For some reason fry do better in "disaster" like not electricity than adults, from my experience But, before the next ice storm hits, here's what you need to do:

Head down to the local Wal-Mart...go into the sporting section, and then into the fishing section...they have a product called "The Bubble Box". It runs about $5-6; get one for each of your tanks. Then get plenty of D batteries. The bubble box comes with the hosing, and airstone, and will run off of 2 D batteries for over 48 hours, closer to 60 from my experience with it. They are also a lot cheaper than the ones in the pet sections.

Next find an extra blanket, and if you lose electricity again, throw it over you tank(s) this will help keep the heat in for at least a little while...

Glad to hear they are doing fine! Heidi
