 | guppy giving birth NOW |

She has a big round ball protruding from underneath. Is this how guppies give birth? I was assuming that they had individual babies... She was pregnant for 51 days in total. She's in a little tank that floats in the aquarium & uses its water & has a grille for babies to drop into - how do I clean the little tank? Thanks for all your help. Anita. |

How long have you had her in the floating breeder? She may be stressed. I'd turn her loose and see what happens. Put a bunch of plants in the tank for the fry to hide in. I tried those floating breeders and all it did was freak the fish out. If I want to save a batch of livebearer fry I put the female in a 10 gallon tank by herself with a bunch of plants. I may be entirely wrong, but it sounds to me like she may have been egg-bound - where for some reason she couldn't develop and/or deliver the fry. I just had a platy die the same way. |
